Editorial: Considering how massively popular the last two GTA games were Rockstar could've knocked out any old rubbish as their last GTA game this generation, but despite Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas not being a full sequel (it still uses essentially the same graphics engine as GTA III) it has more new features and ideas than the majority of official follow-ups. For a start San Andreas itself is not a city but a whole fictional county, containing the San Francisco-esque San Fierro, the Las Vegas style Las Venturra and the Los Angeles inspired Los Santos. You can drive anywhere else you like in the countryside, between making the game four to six times the size of Vice City. You can also now start up your own gang in the game, recruiting members and claiming territory--you can even build and operate your own casino once you get the necessary moolah. You can't just sit around and wait for the money to roll in, though--eat too much junk food and your character will grow fat and have to work out at a gym, as well as keep an eye on a new stamina meter. The list of other additions and refinements are almost endless; above and beyond the usual claims of an improved aiming system for weapons you can now swim, ride bicycles, get your hair cut, take part in random break-ins and robberies... pretty much anything you were ever told not to do as a kid (except the getting a haircut bit). --David Jenkins |

"One of the best games ever!!!!!" - 18 March 2005
This has to be one of the best games ever! There is so much to do. Tons of gameplay hours, great music and so much fun. You can go to the gym, climb, walk and crouch at the same time (great for stealth missions), eat, change your appearance, reply to comments made, take over 'hoods', recruit gang members, modify cars, swim on and under water, parachute, cycle and much more.
Amazing new vehicles including stunt planes, harriers, apache helicopters, loads of bikes and loads of cars. loads of new weapons including the homing missile!
some of the missions are challenging but they are possible. this is a must buy game. i also recommend the strategy guide if your stuck

This game is simply fantastic.
This has to be the best one in the Grand Theft Auto series so far. All the tasks you have to do really have you sometime shouting at the computer with anger coz it takes me ages to do them, but your hungry for more action so you keep on going. You can kill, beat up people and even hi-jack the police cars and cyles!!! you get to 'hang' wiv the right guys n get a gud reputation and if you play your cards right you can even get yourself a girlfriend! the levels are fab and even have genuine record labels and songs on the radio aswell so the game feels that bit more realistic. So go buy this game, go help Carl to win back his family memories and get himself a girlfriend and to have loads fun on the way.
This game does however have a down side............you cant be a women you always have to be male,so you cant have a boyfriend!! it swears quite a lot and you even find yourself talking like the guys on the game if you play it for long enough which can be quite funny, but all in all its worth a good play and worth the money.

"GTA SA - The Best Title in the GTA Series" - 15 February 2005
Three words...BEST GAME EVER. Other genres of games aren't even in the saem league as San Andreas. The talk of 2004 was San Andreas, and it really did live up to it's hype. Could this game be the greatest game for PS2? In my opinion, yes, without a doubt.I got the game last Christmas and completed it through non-stop gameplay for about a month. I stopped playing the game for about 2 weeks after completing it, and honestly, got Cold Turkey. Believe it or not, I actually MISSED playing the game, so there i was, once again going through SA. The game has a REALLY fantastic storyline, following the life of Carl 'CJ' Johnson, avenging the death of his death mother. Along the way your childhood pals help you. Ryder, Big Smoke and OG Loc just to name a few. Theres your brother, Sweet, too. Just when you think you're close to the end of the game, the game suprises you by throwing in a phonecall telling you of another mission to be done. The vehicles and landscape are absolutly unbelievable, you can even get girlfriends! Tractors, CONNECTABLE LORRIES TO THEIR CARGO, BMX's, cars, vans, even Road Sweepers. To really tip the game off, Rockstar North could of added children or animals, but all in all, the game is truly superb. In this review, the limit is 1000 words, but to be honest, that amount of words would not do the game justice.

"Grand Theft Awesome" - 4 January 2005
How much better can rockstar make Grand Theft Auto? This has the usual erray of cars and motor bikes but now there are jump jets, parachutes, jet packs, combine harvesters, heat seaking hand held rocket launchers to name but a few. San Andreas also has a landscape. GTA 3 was a very good game it had hills and cliffs, a dam it had a landscape. This was my only critisism of Vice City it was flat nothing of interest to jump off or climb. Well those clever folk at rockstar have not only give you mountains and hills but rivers to swim in and the ability to climb walls and buildings which makes so much difference to the game play. Theres a large range of missions on offer here too not just the normal steal a car here shoot a few people there this is definatly a game to be reckoned with. Lastly but not least by any means i thought the rear wheel steering on the monster truck instead of a hand brake was just superb i won't even go into the hovercraft. what can Rockstar do to improve on this? I wait with eager anticipation. This is a must buy for all GTA lovers and, for those driv3r and the getaway players buy it and see what fun you are missing out on

"What You Need To Know" - 30 December 2004
Apologies if someone else has covered this already. This game is awesome. You can do pretty much anything....1) The map is huge. I mean its really really massive. You dont have access straight away of course thats teh fun part!
2) Carjaking victims fight back! Yeah its well funny!
3) You can shoot, stab, kill however you wish to.
4) Theres loads and loads of sub missions like burglary, firefighting, police. And onto what most people really want to know is whats new... You can now go into restarants and eat food.
You can visit the gym to build muscle
You can buy clothes
You can have girlfriends
You can buy lots of houses
You can bet on horses/casino games There you go. This game is awesome, its so deep. Even when you get frustrated you can spend a couple hours just driving around doing random stuff. its grteat fun.

"Great game, but with just a few downfalls" - 30 December 2004
This is without a single doubt one of the best games on playstation 2 or any other console for that matter. The amount of things you can do in this game is endless. And the its not just one city anymore, its a whole state with large cities the size of vice city alone and filled with acres and acres of countryside. You could easily get lost, but lucky there is a map. Now the main down fall about this game that fact it has truly lost its title as "gangster". This time ur playing as thug in the "hood" not a true gangster. There are no names for the rivals gangs unlike GTA 3 which had gangs like the yakcuzas , the mafia, the triads and the colombians. And another small down fall is the fact the state is soo big u have to conitusly refer to the map which cna be a bit frusting, as u have to do this non stop because it is very difficult to memorise the whole city and know your way around. But apart from all that, u can shoot, u can blow and u go HIGH!!!!!!!! REally worth the money only 30 pounds!! buy now!!!! u wont regret it.

Good points: Get it! Get it! Get it! Get it! Get it! lets just say ive been playin for !80! hours and im still having just as much fun as i was when i started playing, there is soooo much to do its unthinkable, san andreas is HUGE it'l take you months before youve been everywhere (i still havnt).The storyline is second to none, its better than final fantasy and such because you feel like you know the characters and generally hate them or like them as the story progresses. The stats (cycling, drivin skill, stamina, weapon skill etc etc etc) are superb, you can hold two weapons at a time if you practice. You can now start gang wars and claim territories with your gang. There are no longer hidden packages but now; horse shoes, tags (graffiiti), snapshots, oysters and unique jumps to get. you can still buy houses and even modify your cars Bad points of the game:... Just buy it ok?

"The best GTA game" - 22 December 2004
This is, in my opinon, the best GTA game. There are no loading screens between the 3 cities, which makes getting around so much easier. More weapons are in this game, there is a better fighting and hand to hand fighting aspect to the game, it is more fun once completed with burgulary, trucking, flying, and the good ol' ones like vigalantes etc. You feel more attached to CJ then to Tommy V in Vice City, as near enough everything about his looks you decide. The missions are better, and the actual storyline better aswell. Also if you have trouble with girlfriends, like Key to her Heart, where you need the key card off Millie, yuo can just shoot her to get it!! All in all a much improvment on Vice City. Well Done Rockstar Games

"Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" - 21 December 2004
This was one of the most anticipated game ever I think and so it should be, it has everything a gamer needs great gameplay which includes driving cars,vans,lorries and flying helicopters and planes which combines with 'on-foot' action while shooting everything in sight. You can steal police vehicles(bikes aswell as cars) and carry out vigilante missions where you 'are the cop' for a while, as well as these missions they is also fire engine, and ambulance missions and also one of the most involved storylines ever with too many characters to even keep count. Most things about the game are 'top-notch" with excellent sound,gameplay and storyline but I think they could have done a little better with the graphics as the hands look slightly blocky but apart from that it is one of the most enjoyable and satisfying games I've ever played and is a must for all game fans(but remember that it is an 18 so parents beware! lol)
