5 out of 5  "Brilliant Sony" - 14 January 2005
The new DualShock 2 the only controller your PS2 will ever need.

So seen the cheap controllers going for a fiver in your local videogame store(these only last for five minutes or until both your thumbs are covered in sores)and the Sony controller next to them. Don't think twice BUY SONY!!.

If your familiar with the best games console, the Sony PS2 then you'll need to become familiar with the best pad, the new DualShock 2 controller takes the DualShock to the next level. The PS2 controller is far easier to use than the GameCube controller which is comfy but it's hard to reach all those buttons and also the Xbox controller which is just a plastic brick. The DualShock is fantastic you can reach all the buttons at all times.

The DualShock 2 is great featuring pressure sensitive keys and analog sticks. It is also the best looking controller around and may I say again !Fits straight into your handS! It is also of an immense quality, I bought one with my PS2 2 years ago AND ITS STILL WORKING FINE.

Well Done Sony!

feels good to use when playing, good control and buttons click quickly and easily. seems better than the one that comes with the ps2 itself!

5 out of 5  "Compatibility" - 11 June 2005
I think that you should definatley go for this controller. i have had a PS2 for a few years now and used the origional controller the most. i then purcased a cheap third party controller for multiplayer games and this was fine until about 2 years ago when some of the manufacturers (mainly EA)started not letting you use any of the third party controllers and will only regignise the official ones. this has annoyed me because i cannot play multiplayer on a lot of games including Need For Speed 2. i often bring a game home and get round a couple of mates only to discover that i cannot play the game with them. therefore you must get this controller because it is the only one that works on all games.

5 out of 5  "Sony should include Two Controller with The Console" - 13 December 2003
I have always been in love with the Sony controllers back in the early days of PSONE ,I always found it comfortable and intelligent piece of technology ,When the Dual shock got released with the late versions of PSONE I never thought to upgrade and I have decided to stuck with my old controller ,But I was a bit wrong ,That's what I have discovered when I bought my PS2 the last year ,I was amazed by the Dual shock Controller 2 .

This controller is undoubtly is a value added for any PS2 Console ,I was thrilled by the interactive shocks and vibration it offers with so many games ,And I always thought to myself that the PS2 experience wouldn't be completed without it ,With more and more advanced games to emerge and even some games with digital sound technology like Dolby Digital and THX Certified it became a must for the gamers ,The two square sticks in the middle of it is comfortable to use and I even use them for directing my character in various games .

I have only Two objection on this Controller ,It's not covered by the Console's Guarantee (That's here in my Country ,I don't know about other countries) so when it's facing a problem or something or stopped working you have nothing but to buy a new one ,The other thing is that Sony doesn't include two controllers but only includes one ,That's of course profitable for them but I thought it would be cool to provide a console with two controllers instead of one ,To let the gamers enjoy the thrills of modern day games and multi users experience without the need to buy another (somewhat) costly one ,Well we will also have to wait and see what Sony is going do with the next generation of Controllers when it releases PS3 ,Surely it would be a technically marvelous ,but in the meantime let's enjoy this generation and play till we drop un conscious!!

5 out of 5  "Finally the PS2 Dual Shock controller gets colourful" - 9 November 2002
I cant tell you people how long ive been waiting for this to come out and in my favourite colour too!
This controller is basically the same as the original PS2 Dual shock controller but in a gorgeous transparent blue rather than black which gets boring after a while. It has the Same functions as the last controller but now for people who want to brighten up there PS2.

5 out of 5  "Just Fantastic!" - 5 April 2002
This controller is simply the best! It may be tempting to buy a cheaper controller but it will NOT match this for quality or gaming experience. The controller has the same design as the Psx controller which is a good thing but this adds another dimension to the actual experience of this superb console. The buttons are pressure sensitive which means that, for example, if you lightly make contact with the button your character will walk, if you press it, he will jog and if you hold it down fully, he will run. This controller also feels more powerful in the ways of the Dualshock mechanism. It gives a much more powerful jolt and it seems to fill your hand better than the old Psx controller. I have two of these and I would never switch to another controller. If one broke, I would have no hesitation but to go out and buy another one. But hey, this is a Sony product, it has build quality of a Bomb Shelter and if you are looking for a good quality, solid controller then this is the product for you. Go get it NOW!

5 out of 5  "Trying to be honest" - 2 August 2005
This controller is perfect - cheap immitations are incomparable! I've had my PS2 for almost 3 years and play games such as GTA:SA (which uses predominantly the four 'action' buttons) and TimeSplitters:FP (where the shoulder buttons and D-Pad take heavy duty) and I have suffered none of the ill effects that other reviewers describe, this doesn't mean to say that they are all wrong, but I thought I had better share my good experience. The analog sticks take the most duty, the mistake that Nintendo had with their otherwise superb N64 controller was that these were very fragile, Sony's conversely are very sturdy and very simple to use. The shoulder buttons take most criticism, and I often hear people say that they come out, in three years this hasn't happened to me. I store my controller pads face up in a safe place, and never vent my frustration on my pads, and this formula has helped to keep my pads in immaculate condition.

4 out of 5  "Top notch" - 18 February 2007
I have had one of my controllers for 5 years, and all that is wrong with it is that the D-pad has stiffened up a bit, the R1 button can be pushed sideways if you press hard enough, and that when you shake it it makes a rattling sound, strangely. However, none of these actually affect your gameplay, so it is definitely worth buying.

4 out of 5  "King of Controllers?" - 12 June 2007
I have been using the traditional PlayStation style pads since the launch of the PSX back in 1995, and believe that this standard revised in the DualShock 2 controllers was a great asset to the success of the PlayStation 2; the quality of the pads are consistently good and above all are ergonomically sound, and simple to become accustom to.

Over time however the pads become noticeably more and more unreliable - as with all equipment, but in comparison to other console brand controllers the DualShock 2 controller does wear a degree quicker. Accidents do happen I'm afraid and dropping a DualShock 2 can easily result in damage, considering these are retailing for around £15 to date you would be completely right to expect some better protection within the controller.

Adequate care during use and storage will see the life-span of the controllers increase, other than that the vibration and analog control features of the controller are superb, still setting a competitive standard against third-party controllers - its wire length too is suitable to allow players the freedom to sit comfortably away from the screen without being too excessive when it comes to storage. Ultimately the controller isn't perfect, but it's an excellent choice for most players needs.
